Located in the historic village center of Kampen, our restaurant is one of Sylt’s most traditional establishments. Built in 1876 by Bleicke Meinert Bleicken as the inn “Rotes Kliff,” this is where the story of the modern-day Dorfkrug began.
A Winning Combination: Sylt tradition meets urban flair. Anne Floto and Thomas Samson have given the Sylter Dorfkrug a trendy concept, ushering in a new era.
Delft tiles, old stoves, original ceiling beams, and wood paneling characterize the interior of the thatched Frisian house. These elements charmingly accompany the nostalgic character into the present day. One can imagine the countless gatherings and stories that have unfolded in the former post office, the one-time hotel, or the legendary barn.
Well-considered and sensitive modifications allow the old soul of the Dorfkrug to shine in a modern light. What needed renovation was renovated; what could be preserved was preserved. A new culinary concept, handcrafted furniture and brass accents, new floors, and urban lighting bring a fresh vibe to the venerable rooms. The newly added terrace, covered with flexible screens, is a popular highlight in any season and in any Sylt weather.
